Work

Background

I graduated from the University of Jyväskylä in Finland with a Master’s degree in Information System Science in 2002 (see my Master’s Thesis). I have more than seven years of professional experience in the field of web design and development. Currently I’m working as a Frontend Web Developer & User Interface Designer at a Brussels-based communication agency Qwentes S.A.

What I do

  • Create websites that are clean, optimised, standards compliant, and easy to navigate, use and maintain. Specialised in web frontend technologies, but able to work with backend scripting and databases too (mainly PHP/MySQL).
  • HTML, CSS & JavaScript Development. Writing semantic and clean markup, using CSS for presentation, adding JavaScript for behaviour, optimizing downloadable assets, and minimizing HTTP requests.
  • Blog & CMS Design and Integration. Using ExpressionEngine, MODx, Joomla, WordPress and ShadoCMS to build websites.
  • User Interface Design. Creating interfaces that make it easy to navigate the pages and find content.
  • SEO. Getting higher search engine rankings by writing clean code and using Web Stats & Analytics software.
